Question: I run an under 8’s team to be under 9’s from September, of mixed abilities and we need a few training sessions on angles and passing. Have you got any ideas?
Answer: I would be careful as to not teach too much tactics at that age and focus mainly on techniques of skills, however you may do a simple keep away game in a 10X10 yard area with one defender inside. 3 players play keep away from the defender maintaining a triangle shape at all times. If the team of 3 can make 5 passes they all score a point. If the defender wins the ball or it goes out, the player who lost control or made a bad touch or pass switches with the defender. Play to a predetermined amount.
